對於每位爸媽來說,小嬰兒成長中的任何突破,都是新奇又有趣的;不過影片中這對雙胞胎的表現,可著實讓1百多萬名網友們嚇傻眼。他們站在冰箱前,看起來就像是2個成年人認真的討論事情一般,但嘴裡說的,卻是讓旁人完全摸不著頭緒的「達達語」。

這對才1歲半的雙胞胎站在冰箱前「達達不休」,雖然聽不出來在說甚麼,但從他們時而揮手大笑、時而跆腳叫囂的模樣,顯然彼此之間是能夠溝通的。嬰兒的母親說,雙胞胎最近開始他們的「語言探索」,即使已經很努力從旁教導,但他們仍堅持要用「達達達」對話,有時真的會懷疑他們是來自外星的ET。

據國外媒體報導,有40%的嬰兒在發展初期階段,會創造出一套能夠自己溝通的語言;影片中雙胞胎兄弟就是以「達達達」作為對話基礎,而其他嬰兒們也可能有專屬的暗號。

網友笑說,看他們熱烈討論的樣子,也跟著想搞清楚到底在說甚麼,「真希望影片有字幕版」。有人認為,其中一個雙胞胎一直把腳舉起來,另一個也不時彎腰摸地板,聊天話題很明顯與「襪子」有關。還有人開起玩笑說,無論他們在講甚麼,從豐富的肢體動作,還有突然叫喊來判斷,這對雙胞胎一定是義大利人。(責任編輯:張力天)

Fish oil

Fish oil questioned as a treatment for heart disease, from the Harvard Heart LetterMarch 2011
Fish oil has garnered a reputation as a heart-healthy supplement. It may — stress the "may" — help prevent heart disease. But the results of four recent randomized, controlled trials (the gold-standard of medical research) showed that fish oil didn't work any better than a sugar pull at preventing recurring heart problems among heart attack survivors or people with atrial fibrillation, reports the March issue of the Harvard Heart Letter.

These findings contradict findings from the 1990s that suggested fish oil could protect damaged hearts. But those trials were done before the widespread use of heart-protecting medications such as statins, ACE inhibitors, aspirin, and beta blockers. In their absence, fish oil by itself could have made a difference. In the four most recent trials, participants took fish oil on top of state-of-the-art medical therapy. Use of heart-protecting medications could have drowned out any small benefit from fish oil.

These findings don't mean fish oil is a complete flop. It may work against heart disease if started earlier, before coronary arteries sustain much damage from cholesterol or high blood pressure. And it is a good treatment for high triglycerides. But if you already have heart disease, eating fish is a better option than taking fish oil. What if you just don't like fish? Make sure that your doctor has prescribed the best medical and lifestyle therapies for your condition—and that you are following his or her advice.

Buddha was not upset by these insults. Instead he asked the young man "Tell me, if you buy a gift for someone, and that person does not take it, to whom does the gift belong?"

The man was surprised to be asked such a strange question and answered, "It would belong to me, because I bought the gift."

The Buddha smiled and said, "That is correct. And it is exactly the same with your anger. If you become angry with me and I do not get insulted, then the anger falls back on you. You are then the only one who becomes unhappy, not me. All you have done is hurt yourself."

"If you want to stop hurting yourself, you must get rid of your anger and become loving instead. When you hate others, you yourself become unhappy. But when you love others, everyone is happy."

The young man listened closely to these wise words of the Buddha. "You are right, o Enlightened One, "he said. "Please teach me the path of love. I wish to become your follower."

Health Benefits of Sweet Potatoes

Sweet Potato or Yam is a tuberous crop with scientific name Ipomoea Batatas. Its plant is a creeper with heart shaped or lobed leaves. The tubers color vary from purple or red to pale yellow or white, depending upon the variety, soil type, climate and minerals.

The red variety has drier and harder flesh while the white or the yellow type has more juicy flesh. The red variety has a characteristic aroma which becomes more prominent on boiling. The more reddish or orange the color of the flesh of the sweet potatoes, the stronger is this aroma. Perhaps this is due presence of beta carotene whose concentration also increases with the color.

Let us study the benefits of sweet potatoes.

多吃蔬菜可以防癌! 預防重於治療,包括癌症病患治療後預防其再發以及一般健康的人也都可藉著注意生活習慣尤其是飲食與香煙兩個因素來預防癌症的發生。癌症不過就是一種疾病,它是一種基因上的疾病(a disease of gene) 。這些基因的缺陷來自於兩個方面,一個是先天遺傳,另一個就是後天環境。先天遺傳方面的我們只能接受而沒有辦法去改變,但是後天環境方面,藉著對各種致癌的環境物質的了解,我們不但可以做到消極的避免,還可以更進一步做積極的預防措施來預防癌症發生。環境中的致癌物質,最多的就是香煙(佔~1/3)與飲食(>1/3),其他包括感染、性行為、職業、酒精、及環境污染等。也因這些年來對各種致癌環境因子的影響,尤其是其中對飲食的各種研究使我們對於飲食方面的各種致癌或抑制癌症發生的各種因素有了更進一步的了解。多吃蔬菜可以防癌的觀念就是積極的預防措施

在倡導蔬菜防癌的風潮中最為有名的一種蔬菜就是屬於十字花科的青花菜 (又稱為花椰菜)。它會有名大概除了科學上的各種驗證外就是前美國總統老布希的一句戲謔話: “我從不吃Broccoli花椰菜”有人戲言這句話讓他將總統寶座輸給了克林頓。花椰菜的防癌功效長久以來一直受到學界的肯定, 它的熱量低, 纖維多, 而且富含維他命C和維他命A, 最重要的, 是它除了上述的抗氧化維他命以外, 還含有數種強力抗癌效果的化合物。

這些抗癌物質中最有名的就是indole- 3 -carbinol。它抑制癌症的發生主要是藉由影響動情激素對我們身體的影響進而減少與動情激素相關的乳癌以及子宮癌的發生。美國加州柏克萊大學的研究人員對於花椰菜所進行的研究指出, 花椰菜中的 indoles 對於乳癌細胞具有明顯的抑制功能。花椰菜會被胃酸分解後產生一種3,3'-diindolylmethane (DIM) 的代謝產物, 它也是主要的抗癌功臣。在研究中, 3,3'-DIM 可以減少數種有引致癌症發生的動情激素的代謝產物的產生進而抑制癌細胞的分裂與生長, 並且促進其它可以殺死癌症細胞的蛋白質的分泌而對於癌細胞產生抑制效果。

最近美國約翰.霍普金斯大學的塔拉雷與法海兩位教授主持,並與法國南錫的「國家科學研究中心」合作以小鼠進行實驗時發現花椰菜中的一種成份,在動物體內會轉化為能夠殺死幽門螺旋桿菌的「蘿蔔硫素」(sulforaphane),而且效果更勝於一般的抗生素。幽門桿菌是正是引發消化性潰瘍、胃癌等疾病的主要元凶。幽門桿菌分布於全世界,但在亞洲地區特別猖狂,部份地區罹患比例甚至高達九○%。這種螺旋桿菌會引發消化性潰瘍,並使病患得胃癌的機會昇高三至六倍,是許多國家的公共衛生大敵。花椰菜的這項研究可望為這些消化道疾病提供簡便有效的新療法。如果未來的臨床試驗顯示,花椰菜這種食物可以減輕或預防人類因幽門桿菌而罹患的疾病,將對世界各地的公共衛生產生深遠影響。

塔拉雷教授早在一九九二年就開始進行花椰菜防癌的研究,他發現花椰菜被人體吸收之後,其中一種名為「glucoraphanin」的成份會轉化為「蘿蔔硫素」,刺激人體產生「二期酵素」(phase II enzyme),這種酵素有破壞致癌化學物質的功能,因此被癌症醫學界寄予厚望。

另外美國臨床營養學期刊最近發表的研究指出,長期吃菠菜與花椰菜的人,可以降低得到大腸癌的機會。根據由2000位大30-74歲大腸癌患者與2410位健康者的飲食訪問調查結果,最常食用青花菜與菠菜的人可以降低17%的大腸癌危險,這些種類的青菜水果中含有大量的一種稱為"lutein" 的抗自由基物質,可能是這些物質減少自由基對我們細胞的傷害來減少癌症的發生。

這許多的研究證明花椰菜對於腸癌,子宮癌及乳癌等癌症的都具有良好預防效果, 這應該歸功於它的抗氧化及各種抗癌物質的組合, 而最近由美國癌症學會所資助的一個研究也發現, 花椰菜對於膀胱癌的預防效果成效也頗佳。多吃蔬菜可以防癌主要是藉由蔬菜中的多種已知或更多的未知的抗癌物質共同作用的結果,目前有的科學證據只是更加強了多吃蔬菜來防癌的證據。我們在這個時候應該是繼續推廣多食用這類有益蔬菜的觀念,只去服用所謂的純化的某種由蔬菜提煉出的抗癌物質恐怕仍無法比食用完整的蔬菜有更多抗癌物質的吸收。除了花椰菜以外, 白花椰菜, 包心菜, 甘籃菜也都是同屬十字花科的抗癌蔬菜, 日常飲食中能多注意食用這類有益的蔬菜自然就能減少許多癌症的發生

Ten years ago, women were routinely encouraged to take hormones—estrogen or estrogen plus progesterone — during the transition to menopause and beyond to protect against a host of chronic, aging-related health problems. Today, most women are loathe to consider hormone therapy, even for short-term relief of hot flashes and other troublesome symptoms.

What changed? Findings from the federally funded Women's Health Initiative (WHI) showed that taking estrogen or estrogen plus progesterone was more likely to cause health problems, like blood clots in the legs or lungs, stroke, and gallbladder disease, than it was to protect against osteoporosis or colon cancer.

But the WHI left many questions unanswered, since the trial included mostly women who were well past menopause and evaluated only one type of estrogen (Premarin) and one estrogen-progestin combination (Prempro). So it’s still too early to close the book on hormone therapy, especially for short-term use or relief of menopause-related symptoms, according to the March 2011 issue of the Harvard Women’s Health Watch.

The hormone saga has different messages for different women:

For women who are a decade or more past menopause, hormone therapy probably isn't a good option.
For women troubled by vaginal dryness who no longer have hot flashes, vaginal estrogen is a reasonable option.
For women in the transition to menopause who are bothered by hot flashes or other symptoms, hormone therapy shouldn't be dismissed. Approach it as you might a pain reliever: take the smallest dose that does the job for the shortest time period.
Two randomized controlled studies now underway should provide more guidance on hormone therapy within the next two years.

不知大家有沒有聽過溫炙,就是有艾草在穴道上燻熱。
我個人覺得用吹風機比較快,因為吹的面積比較大。
還有家中有小孩的,要預防感冒,可常常用以上的方法,但要小心別把小孩燙傷。
手上的穴道很多,但是抓不到那個點,所以可以隨時用吹風機吹自己的手以達到強身保健。

  前言
    有些免疫系統的毛病會造成不孕, 已得到多方的證實, 它的影響有可能是無法受精, 無法著床, 或是胚胎受到破壞而無法成長.
  理論來源
    美國生殖免疫雜誌 (American Journal of Reproductive Immunology, 1998; 39:223-225, 391-394 and 1998;40:74-82)Geoffrey Sher MD : Medical director of Sher-Brody Institude for Reproductive Medicine in Las Vegas and San diego
  說明
    Dr. Sher及其同僚認為: 有些不孕婦女,其體內含有與不孕相關聯的抗體 (例如 antiphospholipid and antithyroid antibody) ,這些抗體雖然與健康無關, 卻會影響受精或使子宮內的胚胎無法成長.
基於這個理論, 他們以687位體內含有antiphospholipid and antithyroid antibody 而且至少做過一次以上的IVF(試管嬰兒)而沒成功的婦女為研究對象, 其中603位給予aspirin及heparin, 結果有45%在接下來的試管嬰兒治療中懷孕了, 而84位沒有使用的只有17%懷孕. 在121位有使用aspirin及heparin而仍然沒懷孕的婦女, 如果合併 IVIG(靜脈免疫球蛋白G注射), 則又有51%的懷孕率.

  結論
    雖然這個研究尚未完全成熟, 但是它給了我們一個新觀念, 及不孕治療上的新方向. 如果有更多的研究對象及更多層面的研究數據, 則我們在使用aspirin, heparin, IVIG於不孕婦女時, 將有更大的信心.

Women at high risk of developing breast cancer should be given preventative drugs, according to an international panel of cancer experts.

Writing in the Lancet Oncology, they said drugs such as tamoxifen could reduce the chances of developing breast cancer.

Such a policy would be similar to prescribing statins to patients at risk of heart disease, they suggest.

However, tamoxifen has been linked with womb cancer, blood clots and stroke.

In the UK, 46,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer each year.

Two drugs, tamoxifen and raloxifene, have been approved in the US for the prevention of breast cancer.

Professor Jack Cuzick, who chaired the panel and is an epidemiologist at Queen Mary, University of London, told the BBC: "The two drugs should be approved in the UK. The evidence for them is overwhelming."

The panel agreed that women who had a greater than 4% chance of developing breast cancer in the next 10 years should be offered preventative therapy.

Predicting risk

In heart disease, there are well-known risk factors such as blood pressure and cholesterol, which can inform treatment.

The challenge for any preventative breast cancer treatment would be identifying similar "markers" of risk.

The panel suggests breast density. They say patients with more than 75% "dense breast tissue" had at least four times the risk of developing breast cancer than patients with mainly non-dense tissue.

Professor Cuzick said: "Increased breast density is one of the leading risk factors for breast cancer and early trial results suggest that where tamoxifen is shown to decrease density, the risk of cancer decreases.

"If this is confirmed in long-term studies, breast density could become a powerful way to identify high-risk women who could benefit from preventive treatments."

He suggests the risk of getting breast cancer should be determined during cancer screening.

Dr Lesley Walker, from Cancer Research UK, said: "Our scientists were behind some of the first trials showing the long term benefits of tamoxifen for preventing breast cancer in women with a greater than average risk of the disease.

"Being able to accurately predict breast cancer risk and who will respond to preventative drugs like these is a crucial step in ensuring women get the most suitable treatment."

Meg McArthur, senior policy officer at Breakthrough Breast Cancer said: "It is vital that we find effective ways to prevent breast cancer, especially in women with a high risk. However, as preventative therapy may have negative side effects it would not be appropriate for everyone.

"We welcome studies investigating the best treatments to be used for breast cancer prevention. It's also crucial to identify those at high-risk who would benefit the most from this form of therapy."

中年婦女面對「更年期症候群」的困擾,總是顯得無奈又煩躁,因為卵巢内分泌的功能逐漸老化,動情激素分泌减少,副交感神經系统紊亂,以致婦女在停經前容易出現月經紊亂、顏面潮紅、頭昏耳鳴、心悸失眠、煩躁易怒、烘熱盗汗、腰酸腿軟、倦怠乏力、陰道或尿道上皮细胞萎縮而比較乾澀,甚或焦慮、憂鬱等異常。中醫認為腎虚為更年期症候群治病之本,用補腎填精之方治療會有較好的效果。  中醫臨床上常用生地、當歸、白芍、川芎來滋補肝腎;以六汗、熟地、菟絲子、覆盆子等補腎氣,山葯、白朮、茯苓、連子來益氣健脾;用仙茅、淫羊藿等温補腎陽,黄柏、知母瀉腎火,當歸補血養精,益母草、杜仲補腎調經;再用歸脾湯加味來益血養心安神。  傳統中醫對更年期的看法為:1.腎臟虚衰,因癸水將竭;2.心、肝、脾三臟失調,導致心、肝、脾三臟多種病理的改變;3.氣機失調,年老腎陽不足,蒸化無力。中醫的辨証論治以補腎填精為主要治療法則,辩証歸納分為肝腎陰虚型、脾腎陽虚型、腎陰陽俱虚、腎陰虚肝鬱型、心血不足型,由此可知腎虚為更年期症候群治病之本,用補腎填精之方治療有較好的效果。  更年期婦女因荷爾蒙分泌逐漸减少,容易造成婦女在心理上及生理上產生變化,這時骨質疏鬆症及心血管疾病的發生也會明顯增多,對於骨質疏鬆症的患者在飲食上須注意避免刺激性食物,如咖啡、茶、烟和酒;盡量攝取乳製品,如牛奶、優酪乳、乳酪等;攝取维他命D,如多曬太陽;保持均衡的運動,如慢跑、散步;5.多食青绿色蔬菜。  心血管疾病的患者則需選擇低膽固醇及高纖食品,以植物油取代動物油,多攝取全榖及蔬菜、水果類;多攝取豐富维他命C、E及胡蘿蔔素的食品;並保持均衡的運動。 藥膳---滋陰潛陽湯藥材:杭菊二錢 枸杞子三錢 熟地二錢 淮山三錢做法:以上藥材以三碗水慢火熬成一碗,用此藥汁燉煮魚湯,任何魚類皆可。長期服食。對象:有更年期症狀者。 藥膳---平調陰陽湯藥材:菟絲子二錢 枸杞子三錢 熟地二錢 淮山三錢做法:以上藥材以水三碗慢火熬成一碗,用此藥汁燉煮魚湯,任何魚類皆可。長期服食。對象:無更年症狀但有潛在遠因者。
