Liver cancer is the sixth most commonly diagnosed cancer and the third leading cause of cancer related deaths worldwide.

Liver cancer refers to the growth of malignant tumors in liver tissue. There are two different types of primary liver cancer, heptoma and cholangiocarcinoma. Heptoma or hepatocullular carcinoma (HCC) is the cancer that arises from hepatocytes, the main liver cells. Cholangiocarcinoma, or bile duct cancer, starts in the bile duct cells and grows along the bile ducts in sheets or lines.
